WHY CAMP JAYCEE IS WONDERFUL FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES
76 years of Adventures – Friends – Memories
We Are ACA Accredited
American Camp Association (ACA) means that our camp has undergone a thorough (up to 300 standards) review of operations – from staff qualifications and training to emergency management. ACA collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies to assure that current practices reflect the most up-to-date research-based standards in camp operation.
Safety First, and Always – COVID 19
Camps are being modified in accordance with the recommendations of The Regulatory Agencies. Signed COVID-19 waivers are required.
- For each camp, we are following best practices guidelines provided by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and on behalf of the American Camp Association (ACA) and state and local regulatory agencies (collectively “The Regulatory Agencies”). All camp groups will have no more than 14 campers with two counselors. In order to limit campers’ exposure to many people, the individual camp groups will not intermingle with other groups. While each group will have dedicated space inside and outside, we will provide each group with as much outdoor activity as possible.
- All LFJCC staff will be wearing face masks at all times. All campers ages 2 and up are required to wear masks also. Each morning at drop-off your child will have a no-touch health screening which includes a temperature check.
- All camp staff will be involved in systematic and regular cleaning of all camp areas.
- Our staff is not only trained in delivering fun, engaging, and enriching activities to kids of all ages, they are also safety experts! CPR trained lifeguards, and camp administrative staff, along with our low staff-to-camper ratio, ensure Camp Jaycee is enjoyable and safe. Also, the JCC is located next door to the Northern Division of the San Diego Police and Fire Departments.
Staff Excellence
When it comes to the staff, no other camp comes close to Camp Jaycee. Our highly qualified staff are American Camp Association (ACA)-trained with a focus on child development, group dynamics, age-appropriate programming, first aid, and more. Hands-on attention is guaranteed. Camp Jaycee has one of the best staff-to-camper ratios in San Diego.
Everyone is Invited! At Camp Jaycee we pride ourselves in providing an environment that every child is able to thrive in. We welcome all children regardless of race, religion, national origin or special need. If your child may need any extra accommodation or support to be successful in the camp environment, our onsite inclusion manager is here to work with your family to make sure your child receives all that they need to have a great summer here at Camp Jaycee. Please see page 24 for information about the inclusion intake process.
The Perfect Place! The Perfect Space!
We offer everything a kid needs to have fun indoors AND outdoors! Our facility includes the Friedenberg Olympic sized pool, the David & Dorothea Garfield Theatre, the state-of-the-art Nierman Preschool, the Gotthelf Dance Studio, the Edgar Berner Family Ball Fields, the Albert A. Hutler Tennis Center, and much more.
Swimming Lessons and Recreation
Summertime and swimming go hand-in-hand – we are pleased to allow campers to use our outdoor swimming pool. We have created safe protocols for pool use. This includes limiting the number of campers who may use the pool at any one time, and staggering the groups’ entries and exits into the pool area. Camp groups will have segregated changing areas which will be continually disinfected throughout the day. Best of all, American Red Cross certified instructors provide lessons for children 4 years to grade 3.
Weekly Camp Shabbat
Every Friday concludes with a Shabbat celebration – we schedule throughout the day Shabbat celebrations with small groups in a safely spaced outdoor space where we come together in spirit to celebrate the end of a great week of camp and welcome in Shabbat.
Judaica Specialists
Camp Jaycee is fortunate to have Shlichim (Ambassadors) from Israel who enrich each camp by sharing Judaic customs, dancing, music, Hebrew, and more.
